My name is Paula Wagner, I am a mental health consumer living in southern California. I have bipolar disorder. I take medication, have caring professionals involved in my life and I am doing well.

I wrote a book to tell my story! Today my book is available to the public. My book is a remarkable true life account of what growing up in a family who suffered from untreated bipolar disorder was like for me.

I am just an ordinary person who believes that anyone can realize their dream, even those of us with a mental disorder! My dream is to make my living as a writer and to touch others in a way that will help them appreciate, love, and to believe in themselves. This is my way of giving back for what has been given to me. At one point in my life I was told that I must go to a state hospital for long term treatment, and upon discharge my best hope would be to function in some minimal fashion. My prognosis was very poor.

There are no words that could describe my feelings of total hopelessness during this time. I got down on my knees and asked God to restore my mind. I made a promise to him that if He restored my mind I would never lose it again! I also made a promise to him that if He restored my mind I would never lose it again! I promised to do my best to help others who suffered like I had suffered. I kept both promises. I went to college and worked in the mental health field.
Today I am looking for opportunities to share my story as well as opportunities to promote my book. If you have a convention or any other situation where I might offer to do this, please contact me. I thank you for your time.
