This is the biggest load of biased crap I've ever heard of! Who still does open appendectomies? I bet this is written by an old grey haired near retirement age 'open' surgeon... His claims are not supported in the literature or in practice.. there is absolutely no inc risk of deep infections, and in fact probably a much less risk of pelvic abscesses with laparoscopy in perf appys.... Goes to show u, that first and foremost, anyone can get any garbage printed ....so don't believe everything u read... And definitely research your doctor... Most surgeons who say lap procedures are inferior, make these claims because they don't know how to perform them safely! What they should really say is, lap procedures are inferior 'in my hands'!
