    La Laparoscopia puede ser reemplazada por la cirugia por orificios naturales. La primera apendectomia se hizo en 1998 y  la primera colecistectomia tranvaginal en 1999. Ambas fueron publicadas con el nombre de CULDOLAPAROSCOPY . En el 2007 se comenzaron a usar los instrumentos flexibles  y hoy se conoce este tipo de cirugia bajo el acronimo de NOTES
