Very interesting.  My father just died in his sleep.  He was 77.  The Dr. told me that he probably just had a massive heart attack and never knew what happeded. I thought it just didn't seem right. He just had a sonogram of his heart, and a stress test done the week before. He was told his heart was fine. His death was such a shock to me but I was relieved that he didn't appear to suffer. I do believe he had some sort of sleep apnoea for he always snored and had an irregular breathing pattern while he slept. It would appear that he would stop breathing when he slept for about 5 seconds and then he would suddenly start breathing again. Why are Dr.'s so quick to dismiss or ignore sleep apnoea in older adults?
