1. 12 hour shifts become 14 hour shifts.

    My organization has gotten out of control. Not only do the nurses work 12+ hour shifts,with less staff, higher patient ratios, getting called off for low census days and incorporating mandatory overtime every 19 days. I guess they don't care about staff retention anymore or quality care for the patients. Nursing is a very abusive profession. Caregivers not taking care of the caregivers. How sad is that!
