    no dispute (don't have any data) that these genes might indeed be from Neanderthals and cause a problem with Covid.  However, it's interesting that nearly every article I've seen on genetics from Neanderthals asserts the genes involved "cause problems".  Inheritance of detrimental ONLY genes is not supported by evolutionary forces.  Even in a recessive mode, the incidence of detrimental results ought to gradually reduce the number of individuals who have these genes.  Therefore, I am curious as to what BENEFIT these same genes might have provided (currently or in the historic past) that explains their retention and CHALLENGE the various researchers to find out what BENEFICIAL genes individuals might have from their Neanderthal ancestors.
