Important research, but the journalist could have challenged a few obvious things, before going along with the idea that masks cause selection pressure.  The mutations all obviously arose as responses to antibodies. The selection comes within long haulers, maybe exacerbated by plasma therapy. In addition to binding affinity, it may also be that the higher viral loads produced by these escape mutants is what increases transmissibility.  Also, if this RBD-62 is a naturally produced inhibitor, its not being produced as evidence of the runaway exponential growth with B117 and the others. Very interesting and important research, that needed a more thoughtful write-up.
