I am 52 and was originally diagnosed as RP (as were my two sisters) when I was about 18.  Had cataracts removed around 1991.  Sisters were both diagnosed as ESCS through genetic and blue filter testing.  Confirmed our parents were fourth cousins.  ESCS diagnosis came a little over a decade ago, I think.  My question is that recently my ophthalmologists have noticed and are concerned that my optic nerves appear to be swollen.  I've had another doctor notice it but was originally told that it was not really swollen and not to worry about it, but I've since been having strong headaches and vision loss in left eye.  A couple of weeks ago I was admitted to the VA hospital for that reason - plus the swollen optic nerves.  MRI showed no concerns (about the eyes at least) also had a lumbar puncture (negative, but slightly elevated pressure) and c-t scans.  Been put on a diuretic for cranial pressure which seems to help a little, but the headaches continue.  Are swollen optic nerves normal for ESCS?
