    Before conclusions are drawn about the desirability of vitamin A supplementation, further information is needed about the adherence to the treatment (were the poor results due to low take-up of the supplied supplement, and is this remediable?) and the effects on the results of excluding those showing signs of vitamin A deficiency. If the study found no effects for women without a vitamin A deficiency who didn’t take the supplement that was offered, this should not be generalized to women with vitamin A deficiencies who adhere to the treatment.
