I’m a young adult with narcolepsy, and I read something in this article that was contradictory to what I’ve learned through my own personal investigations. In the second to last paragraph it states, “In these patients there is a significantly lower amount of rapid eye movement (REM) sleep that is the restorative phase of sleep.” To my understanding this is the opposite of true- I thought that there is a significantly HIGHER amount of REM sleep in narcolepsy patients and that REM sleep is not restorative. I’m eager to receive clarification on this because this topic affects me on a daily basis.
