As usual, you have published an article using scare tactics. Deaf people do not automatically have "low weight babies" just because they're Deaf.  I am Deaf and I am a mother of two Deaf children...they were not "low weight babies" by any means. They were 7 lbs 7 oz and 6 lbs 15 oz, which is within the average range.

I will admit that my births were paid for by Medicaid...but then again, many Deaf people find difficulty getting employment. Discrimination is all too common, which forces Deaf people to get public assistance. As it is, I get by with freelance work, but it's not easy going. The hearing society needs to change its attitude about hiring Deaf people. Being Deaf isn't automatically "marginalizing" or "disabling"...it is the attitudes by the hearing society which *creates* marginalization.
