Dr Proietto and Dr Baur's letter in 2004 (A long time ago in medical research) to the AMJ addressing the issue of weight loss not being maintained over a year later (PMID: 19793858) is at odds with Dr Proietto's current research which addresses ways in which diet can actually have an impact on maintaining weight loss. Furthermore the responses to the article, whilst uniformly praising it none the less disagreed with the aspects covered by Ananya. It is disappointing that someone would take the time to pick a single provocative topic, that was written 6 years ago, and base a current article entirely around it. Whilst it is important to address the critical problem of obesity, relying on a single out of date source for information is amateurish at best.
