This is one of the funniest explanations I have ever read about the emergence of a dissociative identity disorder and absolutely non-evidenced. I agree, that sleep disturbances could produce more dissociative states in terms of non-pathological dissociation that everybody knows. But dissociative identity disorder is surely not induced by therapist using hypnoses, as to built and maintain a dissociate personality state would need a lot of sessions forcing that, and could not be done by therapists accidentally. Anyway, is absolutely uncommon using hypnosis for the treatment of trauma, because this could led to severe flashbacks. A more likely consideration would be that authors who publish such an article would want to close their eyes or distract from the fact that children could be abused - by their own parents or by institutional organizations. With little research, one can find convincing scientific papers that prove that a dissociative identity disorder cannot be a fantasy product.
