    No to those who think the only 'treatment' for Down syndrome is prevention of their births!
    No disease has ever been cured with that attitude. We can conquer trisomy 21 and help those with it achieve optimal health and intellectual functioning only IF we do not consider abortion a treatment. For which disease is death the accepted 'prevention'?
    Dr Jerome Lejeune the French geneticist who won the Kennedy and Allen Prizes for his discover of trisomy 21 in 1959 said,
    "Medicine becomes mad science when it attacks the patient instead of fighting the disease. We must always be on the patient’s side, Always.”
    Dr Costa has proven that science can triumph over prejudice against those with genetic diversity, and offer assistance not eugenics.
