    When my oldest son was an infant he had a bad reaction to a vaccination shot and developed an extremely high fever. He was taken to our family doctor which immediately called an ambulance to transport him to a local children's hospital. The hospital staff took him to the emergency room. They packed him in ice to bring his 106 degree fever down. My point is that if grandparents have outdated beliefs in medical care, it is because they learned this from the medical community.
