    Hey there Pam. I'm not sure if this will be of any help to you but here goes

    My sister has GSD type 1a, she is now 12 years of age and living a fantastic normal life or close enough to. As far as I know she is quite hard to draw blood from, her doctors often have to try multiple times to get a vein.

    Also she had problems with eating at first, she wasn't used to certain textures and I think she went to someone to get her to try different textures.

    As far as I know this is quite normal so nothing to worry about
