This is a good article, however, it's now 2020 and there's been little progress. How is it that there is a different equation used for African Americans when calculating Serum Creatinine but somehow that hasn't raised any concerns that the equation results in a higher value, which in turn, causes many African Americans to wrongly believe that their kidney function is 'normal' - while a Caucasian with the same numbers is told that they need a better diet and might even need treatment? This discrepancy can cause millions of African Americans to go about their daily lives causing more injury to their kidneys, which causes hypertension and more kidney damage. This is not rocket science! The equation needs to be adjusted and people need to know what they would be told if they were a different race! First, do no harm!
