There are about 40,000 genes in the human genome. I suppose now they will work out chemicals to block the protein this gene produces, and presto problem solved. We have seen the same thing with various genes that supposedly are linked to cancer and other diseases the blocking of the associated proteins does not seem to help very much. I think most diseases are metabolic in nature and they should be tackled as such. Big strides are being made in cancer research now they have turned away from the genetic disease model and have begun to treat it like a metabolic disease. Dr Thomas Seyfried's book "Cancer is a metabolic disease" would be a good starting point for those skeptical at such an approach.
