It's amazing that the relationship between these cell types and recovery has not been discovered before.  I'm glad the researchers are looking to clinically implement a tool based on these findings as soon as practicable, too.  All too often discoveries and research findings like this get laid by the wayside and forgotten after they're initially published, and the authors move on.  With just a little more work (validation studies, seeing if timely interventions actually work, etc.) this could be a useful clinical tool that just might save lives as well as hospital-days. And it's based on data that's already routinely gathered.  It's almost common sense.  But even with further proof, of course there will be the hurdle of getting past the naysayers . . .
