- All Prime Plus biosensors utilize the established Nova technology in a compact, maintenance-free sensor card format
Important new assays
Urea (BUN), creatinine and eGFR
Over 50% of patients admitted to the ICU will develop some stage of acute kidney injury (AKI)1. The Stat Profile Prime Plus offers creatinine (plus eGFR) and whole blood urea (BUN) test options for the rapid assessment of kidney function.

Ionized magnesium (iMg)
Any disruption in the balance of iCa, iMg, K and Na can lead to reduced cardiac contraction, cardiac arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. The Stat Profile Prime Plus is the only blood gas analyzer to offer a complete profile of electrolytes, including iMg.
Estimated plasma volume (ePV)
The Prime Plus analyzers have the unique ability to report the estimated plasma volume (ePV) — a very important test that assesses the intravascular fluid content of blood, which indicates the hydration status of the patient.
The patient’s plasma volume status is one of the main priorities in controlling several different medical conditions, such as sepsis, shock, chronic pulmonary disease, chronic or acute kidney disease, congestive heart failure and also general postoperative care.
The Prime Plus analyzer reports ΔPV and ePV using the Strauss equation which needs measured hematocrit and measured hemoglobin to determine ePV. If measured serially, ePV could be highly beneficial, and therefore the change in plasma volume (ΔPV) can also be used to support fluid therapy.

New disposable CO-Oximetry technology eliminates maintenance
The Prime Plus analyzer integrates a new, patented multi-wavelength optical system that scans a constant spectrum of optical wavelengths to allow a complete CO-Oximetry panel result without sample lysing. The optical components that make contact with blood are retained in the disposable sensor card.
- Cleaning and deproteinizing are fully eliminated
- Lysing and all its needed mechanical components are completely eliminated, as are lysing and deproteinizing reagents; this enhances reliability and decreases costs and maintenance
CO-oximetry test menu
HHb, MetHb, COHb, O2Hb, tHb, tBil* and HbF*.
*tBil and HbF are not available in all markets.
Fast stat results
The excellent throughput of the Prime Plus analyzer helps users to easily manage the high-sample workload of a busy critical care environment.
The Prime Plus analyzer offers up to 24 critical care tests in approximately 1 minute.
Clot protection
The exclusive Clot Block™ sample flow path in the Prime Plus analyzer protects sensor cards against blood clot blockages.
Bidirectional connectivity patient management
NovaNet bidirectional middleware for all Nova connected devices
NovaNet assures precise and timely capture of Nova analyzer test results for managers and clinicians to retrieve whenever and wherever required. Comprehensive cybersecurity protection and encryption are also included, providing protection against attempts to access a hospital's network.

Automated, true liquid QC
Liquid QC offers the only reliable test of analyzer performance
The United States federal government regulations and several international government regulations have eradicated electronic equivalent QC and are demanding true liquid QC.2
Automated QC conforms to U.S. CLIA, German RiLiBAK and other international QC requirements
The QC cartridges include a 30-day supply of liquid QC material. Controls are automatically run at user-defined intervals. The Prime Plus quality controls:
- Are treated in the same way as patient specimens
- Contain an analogous matrix to that of patient specimens
- Track the precise sample pathway as patient specimens, right from sample probe to waste container
- Challenge testing at patient low, normal, and high value ranges
- Challenge all analytical stages of testing

Supplemental quality monitoring (SQM)
The Prime Plus analyzer offers an automated electronic quality monitoring alternative to liquid QC.
Supplemental quality monitoring (SQM) constantly tracks the performance and status of all analytical components, such as calibrators, reagents, sensors, software, electronics and sample integrity, offering a real-time, sample-to-sample guarantee of accurate performance.
