Tolerx, Inc. and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) today announced that the Phase 3 DEFEND-1 study of otelixizumab, an investigational humanized anti-CD3 monoclonal antibody, did not meet the primary efficacy endpoint of change in C-peptide at month 12 in patients with new-onset autoimmune type 1 diabetes.

Supernus SPN-812 Phase IIa U.S. clinical trial in ADHD meets primary endpoints

Supernus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced that its Phase IIa U.S. clinical trial of SPN-812 in adults for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) met the primary endpoints of safety and tolerability, and showed statistically significant median reduction versus placebo in both investigator-rated and patient-rated ADHD symptom scores.

Increase in cancer survivors underscores need for post-treatment follow-up care

The number of cancer survivors in the United States increased to 11.7 million in 2007, according to a report the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) released today. This is a nearly 20 percent increase in cancer survivors from 2001.
