CPS expands business, adds a remote order entry services division

Comprehensive Pharmacy Services (CPS) announced today a significant expansion of its business, adding a remote order entry services division. CPS’ new division will offer remote prescription approval and order entry to the healthcare industry and will be branded as RemoteSolutions, a CPS company. As part of this new initiative, CPS is excited to announce the acquisition of RxKnights, Inc., a successful remote prescription approval and order entry business located in Naperville, IL (Near Chicago). The transaction closed on June 30, 2009, with all RxKnights operations absorbed into the RemoteSolutions division.

RemoteSolutions will give hospitals and health care facilities a high quality and affordable option for safely providing pharmacy services on a 24/7 basis. With escalating operating costs and a nationwide pharmacist shortage, facilities are seeking improved strategies to maintain quality patient care levels, while effectively complying with regulatory standards.

“Working with the full spectrum of healthcare facilities throughout the country, from very small hospitals to very large systems, it is clear how dire the need is for this service to be readily available. Leveraging CPS’ significant nationwide support resources with this new division enables the organization to address this need at a level yet to be seen in the industry.

“This service will significantly increase drug fulfillment efficiency and safety for hospital and healthcare facility pharmacy departments that operate less than 24 hours per day/7 days per week," said Don Nickleson, CPS President and Chief Executive Officer.

CPS’ acquisition of RxKnights enables CPS to offer this service to multiple states immediately and provides a platform for rapid national expansion. RemoteSolutions anticipates expanding this service to the majority of the United States within its first year of operations.

CPS is the nation’s leading pharmacy services provider, serving acute care and specialty hospitals, medical centers and healthcare facilities. Currently, CPS works with 250+ client facilities in 44 states (including Puerto Rico and the USVI), employs 1,600+ pharmacy professionals and benefits from 38 years in the industry.
