DMAA Awards for Beaumont Hospitals and Independence Blue Cross

Health Dialog, a leading provider of healthcare decision programs, today announced that two of its customers received DMAA Awards for excellence in improving overall population-based healthcare. Beaumont Hospitals (Beaumont) won the DMAA Leadership Award for Outstanding Employer Program and Independence Blue Cross (IBC) won the DMAA Quality Impact Award for Greatest Impact on Satisfaction. Both awards were presented at DMAA’s annual meeting, The Forum 09, September 21-22 in San Diego.

The Outstanding Employer Program Award recognizes an employer organization that has demonstrated leadership in the design and implementation of population health improvement programs for its employees. Beaumont's myOptimalHealth program, available to 40,000 employees and dependents, is a model integrated program for all stages of the health spectrum. Launched in 2005, the program seamlessly integrates onsite programs and online tools with health coaching from Health Dialog. Beaumont has achieved impressive results in employee engagement, cost savings, and improved health status, reporting decreases across the population in weight, stress, blood pressure, smoking, cholesterol, and excess alcohol use. For members with chronic conditions, average costs have decreased 4.8 percent since Beaumont launched the program and Beaumont estimates total program cost savings of more than $4 million.

The Greatest Impact on Satisfaction Award recognizes a company, provider group, or government initiative that has implemented a quality population health management program with the greatest impact on satisfaction of a target population of participants or providers. IBC launched the Connections Health Management Program in 2003 to assist members in gaining the skills and knowledge needed to become active and informed healthcare consumers. IBC collaborates with Health Dialog to provide this comprehensive program to nearly 1.7 million individuals. IBC’s member and provider satisfaction scores for the program have exceeded satisfaction targets now for five consecutive years.

“We are committed to helping our customers deliver healthcare support services that encourage patients to take control of their health so they can live healthier, happier lives,” said Patrick Flynn, CEO, Health Dialog. “We celebrate the recognition of Beaumont and Independence Blue Cross as organizations dedicated to promoting an intelligent, efficient, and effective healthcare system.”
