LeVOCC, Inc. today announced that independent laboratory testing has conclusively demonstrated that the LeVOCC(TM) air purification system successfully destroys a strain of the H1N1 virus. Testing was conducted using the Puerto Rico 8 (PR8) strain of the H1N1 virus. This strain is an influenza A H1N1 seasonal strain and is a valid representative of all H1N1 strains.
The LeVOCC air purification system treats indoor air with a proprietary process that utilizes UV light and a unique catalyst. "The catalytic process in the LeVOCC unit destroys viruses and other contaminants within the unit itself ensuring that no dangerous levels of ozone or formaldehyde are produced," stated Dr. Elliot Berman, Ph.D., an inventor of the LeVOCC air purification technology.
In testing conducted under controlled conditions, the H1N1 virus was completely eliminated following 30 minutes of operation of the LeVOCC unit. Viral detection was measured by real time PCR analysis. No viral RNA was detectable in air samples after running the LeVOCC unit for 30 minutes.
"We are encouraged by these initial results and look forward to continued evaluation of the LeVOCC equipment on other viruses and agents. Results of those further experiments will be disclosed to the public at the conclusion of the ongoing experimentation program," stated Mr. Robert LeBlanc CEO of LeVOCC, Inc.
The LeVOCC air purification system is manufactured by Zentox Corporation in Newport News, Virginia. The LeVOCC unit is covered by issued Canadian Patents No. 2253706 and No. 2253707, U.S. Patents No. 5,766,455 and No. 5,834,069 as well as patents in the U.K. and Germany.
