Ahura Scientific, Inc., the leader in field-deployed analytical instruments for human health and public safety, today announced an upgrade to the language capabilities of TruScan, its handheld Raman spectrometer designed for the stringent requirements of the pharmaceutical and consumer health industries.
With the introduction of TruScan 1.3.0, Ahura Scientific is able to expand its growing global customer base in China and Germany, two of the world’s largest pharmaceutical markets by both revenue and production volume, as well as Austria and Switzerland. This product extension will enable end users to improve quality assurance in pharmaceutical manufacturing and prevent life-threatening counterfeit drugs and vaccines from reaching the public.
TruScan is a rugged, easy to use handheld Raman spectrometer developed for raw material identification and finished product authentication in the pharmaceutical and consumer health industries. Without sample preparation or special handling procedures, raw material identification can be performed in typically less than a minute on the loading dock. With the introduction of TruScan 1.3.0, the graphical user interface is accessible in both Chinese and German, as are the user manuals and instrument administration tools.
“There is growing demand to make global drug supply chains safer. Germany is the largest pharmaceutical market in Europe and China is regarded as having the most growth potential, especially since it is one of the largest sources of active pharmaceutical ingredients,” said Kevin O’Marah, chief strategist at market research firm AMR Research. “With the burden of regulation and importance of patient safety, having a solution that can identify raw materials, degraded products and counterfeits quickly in the field is a huge advantage.”
“The upcoming Chinese Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidance is expected to closely follow the European and American models for pharmaceutical manufacturing and will significantly affect the procedures Chinese pharmaceutical companies use to manufacture their products,” said Doug Kahn, chairman and CEO of Ahura Scientific. “We take the impending changes seriously and as a result have opened a new sales and customer support office in Shanghai and expanded TruScan’s capabilities to help customers quickly create GMP-compliant procedures.”
Ahura Scientific works exclusively with the following partners in China, Germany, Austria and Switzerland for application sales and support of TruScan: Shanghai Chemlab Instrument Co., Ltd. for the commercial segment in China, Universal Technology Co., Ltd. for government authorities across China, ServanTech GmbH & Co. in Germany and Dr. Marino Mueller AG in Austria and Switzerland.
