Healthcare Management Systems, Inc. ® (HMS) will launch a new, proprietary ambulatory electronic medical record and practice management solution called HMS Ambulatory EMR this month.
HMS Ambulatory EMR is a clinical documentation solution that is streamlined for easy adoption by physicians and integrates with the HMS hospital IT solution. It is HMS’ intent to apply for CCHITâ’s 2011 comprehensive Inpatient EHR certification and Ambulatory EHR certification which incorporates all ARRA certification requirements.
“As the demand for hospitals to have integrated ambulatory EMR solutions grows, HMS is committed to providing customers with a certified solution that will improve clinical integration, streamline physician workflow and facilitate use by physicians,” said Tom Stephenson, HMS president and chief executive officer.
HMS Ambulatory EMR will be available for customer evaluation the last week of October and is supported by a comprehensive implementation process and the HMS Learning Institute.
Stephenson said the new product will also assist customers in qualifying for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act HITECH stimulus funds.
“Our goal with this product is to provide a tightly integrated solution to assist our customers and their physicians in obtaining these ARRA funds and being able to conduct business electronically anytime, anywhere,” Stephenson said.
The HMS commitment to deliver a fully integrated clinical suite of applications started in 1988 with the launch of order communications and results reporting, which was followed by ancillary applications in the early 1990s, and nursing documentation in the late 1990s. HMS began focusing on more advanced clinicals such as eMAR, PACs and Clinical View, a browser-based physician access portal to the online patient chart, in the early 2000s, followed by Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) and CCHITâ Inpatient EHR certification (Healthcare Management Systems 7.0) in 2007. More recent HMS success includes Release 8.1, the company’s largest software release to date which focuses on physician tools and overall clinical improvements.
