Toray Industries, Inc. (TOKYO:3402) of Japan announces a competition award for groundbreaking research that uses DNA microarray analysis.
Toray's "3D-Gene™ Competition Award" is donated to encourage further progress and achievements of scientists using DNA microarray technology in research leading to publishing papers of superior quality about analyses using DNA microarray.
3D-Gene™ is a super-sensitive microarray. Toray has succeeded in development of a DNA microarray substrate with high sensitivity (100 times that of existing DNA microarray substrate), high reproducibility/quantification and high speed (10 times the existing substrates) based on its unique technologies such as an agitation method during hybridization using microbeads and a substrate with special configuration and gene spotting technology using nano-level control of molecules.
We seek applicants who are researchers with research plans in which gene expression analyses play an important part. Applicants of any age and affiliation are welcome. The proposed research must make full use of gene expression analysis which 3D-Gene™ could support.
The award winners will get DNA microarray analyses with 3D-Gene™ matched to each winner's research plan and a research grant of $2,000 specially for the sample preparation. The award winner will send their samples to Toray for the analysis. The whole microarray analysis will be done by Toray in Japan (basic data analysis is included).
Applications for this award will be accepted until December 10, 2009.
