HealthTrans Access sponsors 50 disadvantaged families to free healthcare support

HealthTrans Access, a comprehensive discount healthcare provider, has arranged for 50 disadvantaged families from the Greater Denver and Boulder areas to receive one year of membership in the HealthTrans Access discount healthcare program at no cost. In partnership with Denver Human Services and several of their community organizations, HealthTrans Access is providing families with its Premium discount program, which provides deep discounts for healthcare services for the entire family.

Each family will receive discounts of 10 percent to 85 percent on both brand and generic prescription medications, as well as discounts of 20 percent to 60 percent on dental, vision, hearing, chiropractic, and alternative care services, and discounts of 15 percent to 60 percent on doctor and hospital visits.

“During the current economic situation, many families are finding that their paycheck doesn’t go as far as it used to, and they oftentimes skip healthcare services to make ends meet,” said Michael Oshins, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Discount Healthcare at HealthTrans. “We believe there’s a great need to help the Colorado uninsured and underinsured with access to affordable healthcare services. We are thrilled that our products are able to support families in need. Sponsoring these families is our way of giving back to our community, and helping ensure they don’t compromise their health in an effort to keep costs down.”

Year to date, HealthTrans Access has processed more than 8.7 million discount card claims, and where a discount applied, savings for clients was $152 million. For instance the average savings for Amlodipine Besylate, a medication used to treat high blood pressure provides savings greater than 80 percent for clients in the Denver metro area.

The Denver Human Services community organizations partnering with HealthTrans Access to sponsor the families include: Eastside Food Stamp Office, Family to Family, Jewish Family Center, Samaritan House, and Volunteers of America Motel. Each individual family will receive one free year of the HealthTrans Access Premium product, a $240 value.

HealthTrans Access has also distributed over 2,500 free discount prescription cards to local food banks and community-based organizations. These organizations include: The Food Bank of the Rockies, Denver Venture Schools, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Denver Road Home, Beth Nehamah Hospice, The Delores Project, The Denver Safe House, TLC Meals on Wheels, Capital Community Service, Project Homeless, and the Carriage House. The discount pharmacy cards provide individuals and their families with 10 percent to 85 percent savings on generic and brand name medications, and are valid at over 58,000 pharmacies in the HealthTrans national pharmacy network.

The HealthTrans Access discount healthcare products offer a solution for many individuals whose medications are not covered by their existing healthcare plans, as well as those who are unemployed, or only working part-time. The products can be used by the entire family. To learn more about the HealthTrans Access suite of comprehensive discount solutions, please visit: www.pathtobettercare.com.
