The connection between higher education and pursuing a bioscience career is without question. The availability of funds for a student to pursue a bioscience education, however, is sometimes less certain.
“Our hope is that through individual and corporate donations, we can increase both the number of awards and the dollar amount per award in coming years”
To address these financial needs and to promote bioscience career pursuits among Ohio’s students, BioOhio has launched the BioOhio Annual Scholarship program. Four $1,250 scholarships will be awarded in 2010 to Ohio high school seniors who will pursue a bioscience-related degree at an Ohio college or university. Applications are available at www.bioohio.com/Scholarship.aspx.
BioOhio established the BioOhio Scholarship Fund in October 2009 with $15,000. BioOhio’s contribution will be divided equally over the first three years of the scholarship fund, with plans on sustaining and increasing the fund through private, tax-deductible donations.
“Our hope is that through individual and corporate donations, we can increase both the number of awards and the dollar amount per award in coming years,” said BioOhio Director of Communications Matt Schutte.
The deadline for applications is March 19 and the four awardees will be announced on April 30. For additional information on applying for or donating to the BioOhio scholarship, visit www.bioohio.com/Scholarship.aspx.
