MEDSEEK expands relationship with Frederick Memorial to develop eHealth ecoSystem

MEDSEEK, the leading provider of healthcare enterprise portal connectivity solutions, announced today the expansion of its relationship with long-time partner Frederick Memorial with its engagement to develop the healthcare organization's comprehensive eHealth ecoSystem.TM

“The portability of data facilitated by our MEDSEEK relationship is one of the significant reasons we were able to accomplish this.”

Frederick's ecoSystem will combine a patient portal and consumer-facing Web site with its existing MEDSEEK physician portal to create a fully integrated, single-platform system, allowing patients, physicians and clinicians to share information in a secure, online environment. Because the MEDSEEK ecoSystem is vendor-neutral, Frederick will be able to leverage its existing healthcare information system investment.

Frederick Memorial continues to deepen its relationship with MEDSEEK based on the success of its physician portal, launched in 2008. "MEDSEEK and Frederick Memorial have had a strong relationship going back eight years. MEDSEEK's leadership is clearly in tune with what we're doing at Frederick Memorial, and they are genuinely interested in our success," stated David Quirke, CIO for the Maryland-based organization.

The physician portal currently connects 375 Frederick Memorial physicians and receives more than 1,000 logins per month. "Our physician portal has been the single greatest physician satisfier over the past seven years, based on our internal surveys. In fact, at a time when we might expect physician satisfaction to be at an all-time low regarding technology, it is higher than it has ever been," said Quirke. "As we move toward the patient portal as a next step, MEDSEEK will be an integral part of our holistic approach to managing data within our own system and the community as a whole."

"Frederick Memorial and MEDSEEK have a long-standing and productive relationship, built on our shared vision of transforming healthcare and advancing the user experience," said Peter Kuhn, CEO of MEDSEEK. "The eHealth ecoSystemTM will provide a user-friendly environment that drives information sharing and operational efficiencies across multiple business lines. The system will also move Frederick beyond meaningful by engaging consumers, patients, physicians and employees throughout their community."

Frederick Memorial recently achieved HIMSS Analytics Stage 6 for EMR adoption, placing the hospital among the top 1% of hospitals nationwide. According to Quirke, "The portability of data facilitated by our MEDSEEK relationship is one of the significant reasons we were able to accomplish this."
