SponsorFit LLC, a privately held, hybrid company consisting of fitness, advertising, and marketing, today announced the launch of their initiative to provide free exercise programs to educators in the Washington, D.C. metro area through corporate sponsorships, whereby sponsors will receive numerous advertising impressions in a variety of benefits.
Certified instructors will arrive on-site and offer twice-weekly fitness programs to teachers at participating schools, which are sponsored by community businesses paired with each location. Additionally, SponsorFit will donate 5% of their earnings from each sponsorship fee directly to the sponsored school.
Ray Middelthon, managing partner of SponsorFit, states, "Teachers work long, exhausting hours during the school year and they often don't have the time or ability to participate in fitness activities due to their busy schedules. If you couple that with challenging economic times, you have a recipe for unhealthy habits that can be prevented with our on-site program and these corporate sponsorships. We want to transform the way fitness is delivered to local communities."
A recent study by the Journal of the American Medical Association shows that roughly 1 in 3 Americans are overweight or obese by current standards.
"One in three is an unbelievable number by any standard when it comes to obesity. Our short-term goal is to start locally with a focused group of individuals, the teachers, who can learn and deliver a healthy message to students so we can begin constructing a healthier future. Once that campaign is established, we hope to expand to other areas and other groups in northern Virginia. We can create jobs in the fitness industry by expanding, and our long-term goal is to be able to provide free fitness nationwide."
