Washington, D.C. and Warsaw, Poland: The Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling (ICM), University of Warsaw, has partnered with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in a national site licensing agreement to provide 922 research and scientific institutions throughout Poland with site-wide access to Science , the flagship publication of AAAS.
The ICM is coordinating a program entitled "Virtual Library of Science" which is aimed at providing the academic community in Poland with access to basic scientific databases and e-journals. The program is funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland. As part of this program, the national academic site license to Science will provide site-wide access to all institutions in Poland which are entitled to benefit from the budget of the Ministry, including, public and private higher education schools, Polish Academy of Sciences, the research and development institutes and other institutions with the official scientific status in Poland.
Professor Marek Niezg-dka, Director of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling, emphasizes that "access to Science , which is open to all researchers and students in Poland within the "Virtual Library of Science" program, is a key component of the national scientific competitiveness policy."
"International research cooperation has become an increasingly critical step toward addressing global issues, from climate change to disease prevention and food security," says Bruce Alberts, Science Editor-in-Chief. "I'm delighted that Science will be able to provide Poland's leading scientific institutions with improved access to peer-reviewed research, thanks to this new partnership."
