“We look forward to motivating our committed supporters to volunteer, donate and, of course, to vote weekly to help AHF in its mission to save lives.”
"AHF is honored to have been selected to participate in Members Project for this quarter," said Ronna Albert, AHF's Acting Director of Fundraising. "We look forward to motivating our committed supporters to volunteer, donate and, of course, to vote weekly to help AHF in its mission to save lives."
Members Project is a partnership between American Express and TakePart, a social action network. Members Project encourages everyone, including non-American Express® Cardmembers, to take his or her step and help support worthy causes and charitable organizations.
"Participation in the Members Project will give AHF a great opportunity to motivate our online membership—now more than 155,000 strong—in a whole new way," said Lori Yeghiayan, Associate Director of Communications for AHF and AHF's social media strategist. "It is also a chance to build on the momentum that AHF's e-community has been gaining over this past year."
Those who've joined Members Project can vote for one charity every week from a list of up to 50 charities. Every three months, the votes are counted and five charities in that round of voting will share a total of $1,000,000 in funding. Participants can also get involved by volunteering or donating. Members Project provides the platform to help make taking action easier with organizations like AHF.
"AHF's passionate Facebook fan group—which has grown from just a few hundred to more than 121,000 in a little over a year—will be a great help in getting the word out to more people across the country who want to make a significant impact on the fight against HIV/AIDS by voting weekly for AHF," said Christina McEwen, AHF's Communications and Marketing Coordinator, responsible for creating and maintaining AHF's social media pages, including Facebook and Twitter.
