MedAssets, Inc. (NASDAQ: MDAS) announced today that Jackson Health System has selected the Company as its strategic partner to implement MedAssets' transformational approach to significantly lower supply costs, drive operational efficiencies and engage physicians in the cost and clinical utilization management improvement process.
“Together, we will work to identify ways to drive costs out of the health system and implement key strategies to help transform Jackson Health into a more efficient, sustainable organization for the Miami community.”
Based in Miami-Dade County, Jackson Health System is an integrated healthcare delivery system with 2,482 licensed beds, is the third largest teaching hospital in the United States, and generated net patient revenue of $1.1 billion in 2009. To transform the system's supply chain and clinical cost management processes, MedAssets will deploy a consultative strategic sourcing approach to reduce overall supply costs and resource utilization. The new multi-year partnership includes group purchasing (GPO) services, physician preference item consulting and sourcing, and supply chain analytics. Jackson Health System will also implement MedAssets' Web-based Service Line Analytics tool to identify additional opportunities for cost improvements using actionable information to drive process improvements.
"The agreement with MedAssets is designed to improve Jackson Health's long-term sustainability by managing spend and driving efficiency," said David Small, chief operating officer, Jackson Health. "Our goal is to eliminate costs and engage our entire workforce in identifying savings opportunities and increasing our process efficiency so that we can continue to serve the citizens of Miami with their healthcare needs."
"MedAssets is pleased that this strategic partnership will assist Jackson Health by applying our proven best practices to the health system's spend management processes," said Rand Ballard, chief customer officer and chief operating officer, MedAssets. "Together, we will work to identify ways to drive costs out of the health system and implement key strategies to help transform Jackson Health into a more efficient, sustainable organization for the Miami community."
