Second annual CNS Summit to shape the future of drug development

Segal Institute for Clinical Research, a consortium of CNS and women's health research sites, is preparing to again be actively involved in CNS Summit this coming fall.

"CNS Summit is a meeting focused on improving the success of researchers developing new treatments for patients suffering from CNS disorders," said Bonnie Segal, Vice President at Segal Institute for Clinical Research."

It is an assembly by CNS drug developers for CNS drug developers, and involves all categories of stakeholders. The goal is to build a community of CNS drug developers who are willing to go beyond competitive issues and work toward common goals. Producing concrete results through collaboration that shape the future of CNS drug development is the mission of this conference.

The second annual CNS Summit is scheduled for November 17-20 at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. The themes of the three-day conference are Collaborate, Innovate, Accelerate and Technology.

"The conference combines all walks of CNS industry professionals for the overall goal of treating CNS disorders," explains Segal. "Not only is the CNS summit informative, the three days of presentations and one-on-one networking also creates a sense of camaraderie among industry competitors."

The preliminary agenda for this year's CNS Summit can be found on the conference website www.cnssummit.org, and includes:

  • Segal will participate in Friday night's evening session entitled "How to Successfully Implement Complex Clinical Trial Programs at the Site Level." This session will address the increased complexity of CNS clinical trials, the impact of this, and possible solutions.
  • Back by popular demand, a one-to-one meeting forum allowing participants to identify and schedule private meetings with other conference participants. This year the system will be enhanced so that this will be a collaboration platform beyond the meeting, allowing future meetings to be set up throughout the year.
  • New this year, a one-day technology satellite meeting will be held on November 17, 2011 prior to the main CNS Summit. Technology company leaders and CNS drug development leaders will brainstorm how new technologies might be applied to challenges facing CNS research industry.
  • The Innovation Showcase, where companies with innovative products and services, as chosen by the Scientific Program Committee, will have an opportunity to make presentations to CNS Summit participants.
