This post in the "PLoS Blog" announces the publication, in conjunction with UNAIDS and PEPFAR, of a collection of articles titled, "Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision for HIV Prevention: The Cost, Impact, and Challenges of Accelerated Scale-Up in Southern and Eastern Africa" (Hawxhurst, 11/29). According to a PLoS press release, the collection of nine articles "highlights how scaling up voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) for HIV prevention in eastern and southern Africa can help prevent HIV not only at individual but also at community and population levels as well as lead to substantial cost savings for countries due to averted treatment and care costs" (11/29).
