The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) has launched enhanced versions of its popular ECG interpretation and pediatric critical care E-Learning courses, conveniently delivering the latest clinical information, tools and resources to nurses and other healthcare professionals.
The newly enhanced AACN: Basic ECG Interpretation course equips clinicians to quickly identify potential cardiac threats and respond appropriately, improving patient care. Designed for critical care nurses, cardiac technicians and all healthcare professionals working with monitored patients, the comprehensive, web-based course teaches a standardized, eight-step process that simplifies the complex practice of dysrhythmia interpretation.
AACN's ECG course includes 10 lessons on proper monitoring techniques, rhythm interpretation and ECG waveforms and intervals analysis. New to the updated version is content on identifying and troubleshooting pacemaker rhythms. Upon completion of the course, which is available for individual and organizational purchase, learners earn 6.5 continuing nursing education contact hours.
"We continue to enrich our E-Learning library with the most current, evidence-based knowledge to support and enhance clinical practice and optimize patient outcomes," said Mark Warmbrand, who leads AACN's technology-based learning activities.
AACN has also launched a new version of Essentials of Pediatric Critical Care Orientation (EPCCO), a comprehensive online introduction to pediatric critical care. Developed by Children's Hospital Association and designed for pediatric acute and critical care nurses — and those who educate them — EPCCO employs a body systems approach to explore anatomy and physiology, relevant diagnostic information and the clinical presentation and management of common disorders in pediatric patients. The updated version now includes information on pediatric pharmacology and medications.
EPCCO consists of 34 lessons divided into eight modules and is available for organizational purchase. Learners earn 47.5 continuing nursing education contact hours upon completion.
