NAFC updates Male Stress Urinary Incontinence content

The National Association For Continence (NAFC) has updated the Male Stress Urinary Incontinence content at www.nafc.org. The new content is designed to be more patient friendly and includes an educational video, as well as additional resources about the diagnosis, treatment, and management of Male Stress Urinary Incontinence. An improved pamphlet, Male Stress Urinary Incontinence: Understanding its causes and Evaluating Treatment Options was produced to further supplement the online content. This information is the latest addition to NAFC's vast collection of educational web based and print materials available to consumers seeking knowledge of management and treatment options for bladder and bowel health conditions

Male Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) also known as, Post-Prostatectomy Incontinence, commonly occurs following a surgical procedure to remove a cancerous prostate. Studies have indicated that as many as 90% of men report leakage in the first few weeks following surgery, after removal of the catheter. Over the course of the first year, SUI can continue to be a significant problem. Fortunately, there are effective treatment options for many cases of post-prostatectomy incontinence.
