New Planned Parenthood Direct mobile app allows users to order chlamydia and gonorrhea testing

Today, Planned Parenthood launched Planned Parenthood Direct™, a new mobile app that allows users to order confidential chlamydia and gonorrhea testing. Planned Parenthood Direct™ is available for free download through the Android or Apple app store to California residents.

"People trust Planned Parenthood to be there with accurate sexual health information and expert care," said Heather Saunders Estes, CEO of Planned Parenthood Northern California. "Planned Parenthood Direct™ is very convenient and it brings the confidential, non-judgmental health services that Planned Parenthood already provides into the privacy of your own home."

After download, a Planned Parenthood Direct™ test kit is sent to users by mail in discreet packaging with simple step-by-step instructions. Users send a urine sample directly to Planned Parenthood labs and get test results privately through our secure app. If test results are positive, users are informed how to obtain treatment.

Planned Parenthood Direct™ uses the same trusted STD tests that patients take in our health centers. Users are able to send questions directly to Planned Parenthood doctors using the mobile phone app and they get secure, electronic results right to their mobile device.

"We developed Planned Parenthood Direct™ to reach tech-savvy people who may not have the time to visit a local health center and for those who may feel more comfortable with the privacy that a mail-in STD test provides. This app is also a great way for people in rural or otherwise hard-to-reach areas," said Estes. "We are excited that this app will help us to deliver more of the high-quality care for which we're already known, to many more people. You can count on Planned Parenthood to be with you every step of the way."
