Continental Who's Who recognizes Stanley J. Dudrick, M.D., FACS, as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in recognition of his contributions to the field of medicine.
Dr. Dudrick brings close to 50 years of experience to The Commonwealth Medical College, where he works as a General Surgeon. Inspired to enter the medical field following his mother's diagnosis with rheumatic fever, he was taken with his mother's physicians and their ability to cure her. "They were absolutely amazing," Dr. Dudrick said. "I wanted to be one of them."
Serving in his current position for six years, Dr. Dudrick also works as the Founding Medical Director at Misericordia Hospital Medical Center, and is a Professor of Surgery at both Yale University and The Commonwealth Medical College where he practices. He completed his own studies and training at the University of Pennsylvania.
In keeping with his impressive resume, Dr. Dudrick is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Surgical Association, the Society of University Surgeons and the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. He also has contributed over 800 articles to a plethora of medical journals.
Dr. Dudrick attributes his success to the following philosophy: "work hard, keep your head down and keep your mouth shut." He advises young, aspiring doctors to follow "the four A's: be available, affable, able and have a good attitude." Additionally, Dr. Dudrick subscribes to the 11th Commandment: "Thou shalt do everything to achieve your full God-given talent and potential."
When not working, Dr. Dudrick enjoys "tinkering," sailing, kayaking and spending time with his wife, Theresa, their six children (one of whom followed in his footsteps and became a cancer surgeon), 16 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He dedicates this recognition to his wife, his parents and grandparents and also to Jonathan Evans Rhoads, Harry Lane, Professor of Anatomy and Fred Shavely, Professor of Chemistry.
