It is time that patients took back their right to say “I am not buying the misinformation about the opiod crisis” being top on the list of the DEA’s “we will stop this” lazy excuse for not doing their real jobs. Leave our healthcare teams alone, chase a cartel member or get a real job. And name the opioid, don’t just view any pain relief medication to be a problem. If opioids are so bad, why has the FDA gotten approval for an even stronger drug than Fentanyl, it starts with a D and is supposedly for combat injuries so horrendous that only death is worse. Now…in what combat zone do we need that? And how long do you think it will be before the drug czars get it on the streets?
And if you were in the hospital, being cared for by a doctor or nurse who was suffering from something like post herpatic neuralgia but was functioning well on a minimal dose of hydrocodone, do you think you would be in better hands like that, or do you want the care given by someone who is so distracted by pain they can’t focus? I know what my pharmacology professor said about that? She had a PhD in nursing and wrote a textbook on the pathophysiology of pain?
