Hi, Dr. Thomas. I lost my unborn child at 28 weeks back in September. I had been feeling bad for days, then the baby stopped moving (no movement for over 24 hrs). I started bleeding before I could even get to hospital to get checked. I found out I had had a placental abruption and also covid. I was also told I also had a very low platelet count and had to be given platelets and moved to a different hospital for best care during delivery of my stillborn. From what doctors told me, they were unsure of what caused the low platelets and quite a few doctors were monitoring my case. Of course, there were never answers. I know studies show that, at 38 years old, I was at a higher risk of placental abruption. This was also my fourth pregnancy; I had no issues and had normal vaginal deliveries with all 3 previous pregnancies. I've been researching on the web the relation of low platelets as a cause or an effect of placental abruption or covid. I concluded that there is a high possibility that covid caused the low platelets which in turn caused the placental abruption. I also found an article that, while a wide enough study has not been done, there are cases of this correlation. I was just wondering what your thoughts were on this. Thanks.
