This article says "the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report that 1 out of every 36 children in the U.S. will receive an ASD diagnosis." That is not true. The CDC's most recent ADDM report - Maenner et al 2023 - estimated that 1 in 36 children born in 2012 have autism. Nothing about future diagnoses. It does not say nor imply that this estimate applies to other birth years. In fact, all of the CDC ADDM reports show clearly that birth year cohort prevalence has increased very strongly with increasing birth years. Confusing single birth years with children of all ages inherently leads to different numbers, e.g., 1 in 100 vs 1 in 36.
