SDI's Animal Grip Strength System allows for flexibility in fore- and hind-limb grip strength testing by including adjustable mesh grips with a range of 0-45° and gauges with variable capacities to accommodate the subjects’ size and research parameters.
Features
- Test fore and hind strength in a single pass
- The grip strength platform keeps the animal focused on the gauge, resulting in the most accurate readings
- To avoid downtime and problems, perform tests using the optional PC interface
- A basic system consists of a platform, one gauge, and a grip
Description
With its ability to mount one or two force gauges and a channel designed to keep the animal’s attention on the gauge, the SDI Animal Grip Strength System was created to make evaluating grip strength more convenient and adaptable.
Rats and mice can use adjustable mesh grips, which offer a larger gripping target than most. Gauge mountings with height and spacing adjustments can be used to set up the user’s system for rats or mice. In addition to measuring both fore and hind limb strength in a single pass, users can test with speed utilizing both gauges.
Animal Grip Strength System highlights:
One grip for both fore and hind limb testing
Users are encouraged to utilize SDI’s mesh grip to examine both fore and hind limb grip strength in a single pass because it can be adjusted from 0° to 45° without removing the grip from the gauge. The adjustable grip enables users to determine the angle required to achieve the best outcomes rather than being restricted to the fixed angle present in other hind limb grips.
No more switching gauges between fore and hind limb testing
Grip strength gauges are available at various maximum capacities (see below) and can be read in both directions, pulling and pushing. This avoids the need to dismount and turn the gauge around when transitioning between forelimb (pulling) and hindlimb (pushing) testing. Furthermore, users can be confident that the data is accurate because maximum force will be locked until the user resets it.
Available gauges
10lb/5 kg gauge for rats and mice, including Metric, Newton, and Lbs/Ozs scales. All gauges come with a USB interface and Serial Interface.
PC interface provides optimum accuracy and speed
When the Grip Strength System is combined with the optional PC interface, downtime and runtime errors are virtually averted. The SDI Grip Strength Software controls the gauge’s pulling, pushing, and maximum force recording functions.
SDI Grip Strength Software
The SDI Grip Strength Software allows users to maximize the study’s accuracy and flexibility.
Session data is automatically recorded and stored in a single file, eliminating the possibility of lost sessions. Furthermore, the software allows users to define all study specifics ahead of time, preventing run-time data entry. When users are ready, they can show the data directly on the computer screen or export it with a single click to Microsoft® Excel or another delimited file type.
Define the study in advance
Define each scheduled test session to ensure users gather the most accurate data possible. In addition to assigning subjects to particular test stations and setting subject identifiers, users may arrange session parameters and define subject factors like dose level. All this information will be kept in a single file format to prevent the loss of any important information.
Automatically run sessions
Determining the research beforehand by automating sessions saves users time and removes potentially error-prone run-time decisions and data entry. Users can ensure the results are closely linked to the pre-specified subject IDs. To conduct the test session, adhere to the Grip Strength software’s instructions.
Export directly to Microsoft® Excel (or any delimited file type)
The SDI Grip Strength software automatically identifies data by column headings and allows table formatted results to be directly exported to Microsoft® Excel or a delimited file type (TAB, CSV, etc.). Users will save time by eliminating the need to combine several single files and maybe reformat them again. They will not lose important information because the data is exported from a single file.
