ARAMARK Healthcare Canada earns RCO's Waste Minimization Gold Award in Communications

ARAMARK Healthcare Canada’s Environmental Stewardship Initiative has earned a Waste Minimization Gold Award in Communications from the Recycling Council of Ontario (RCO) for the second straight year, further endorsement of ARAMARK’s effort to promote sustainability at nearly 200 healthcare facilities throughout Canada.

The award, in recognition of excellence and commitment to a sustainable environment, acknowledges ARAMARK Healthcare’s “Green Team” efforts to educate employees and client partners of best practices through quarterly consumer-oriented newsletters, bi-monthly electronic news updates, Leaders in Action e-mail profiles, online resources to promote environmental management and themed educational awareness event kits.

“We’re thrilled that the RCO has once again singled out our commitment to protecting and improving the environment,” said Wilf Prescott, Vice President of Operations for ARAMARK Healthcare Canada. “Responsibly managing emissions and waste are an important part of sustaining and restoring our natural resources, and we pledge to continue minimizing our environmental footprint by promoting and practicing waste reduction, reuse and recycling in our operations and those of our clients.”

ARAMARK Healthcare Canada also was recognized for high executive participation and the growing number of stakeholders and partners who engaged in the company’s “Green Team” environmental awareness observances in 2009.

Through its various communications, the “Green Team” estimates it reached more than 160,000 clients, visitors, patients and residents, staff, students, executives and health care workers in 2009. Please visit www.aramark.ca for information on ARAMARK Healthcare Canada.
