Celerus Diagnostics will introduce a totally automated
immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining system, the much-anticipated Wave
RPD, at the United States and Canadian Association of
Pathologists (USCAP) annual meeting being held in Washington DC, March
22–24. The new system is the first of its kind, capable of delivering totally
automated IHC results in one hour.
“Pathologists will have the ability to see IHC
results that can aid in a differential diagnosis faster than
ever before”
"We're extremely proud to present the Wave RPD, our second generation Rapid
IHC® system,” said CEO Dave Gross. “The Wave
RPD System is unparalleled in the industry and this annual meeting of
leading US and Canadian pathologists is the ideal venue for its
introduction."
On-board heating technology and sophisticated thermal control software
have been added to the Wave
RPD System, allowing for rapid deparaffinization and antigen
retrieval. These steps, along with the patented Wave motion technology,
deliver Rapid IHC® results in one hour. This significantly
improved turnaround time is one third of other IHC instruments taking up
to three or more hours.
"Pathologists will have the ability to see IHC
results that can aid in a differential diagnosis faster than
ever before," said Jason Lusk, VP of Business Development. "For a
patient waiting on laboratory tests, a possible cancer diagnosis and
subsequent treatment options, this reduced turnaround time is
significant. The Wave RPD System will deliver the fastest standardized,
high-quality IHC results available."
The new capabilities of the Wave RPD System will drive future growth at
Celerus beyond IHC and into rapid molecular assays. Feasibility has now
been demonstrated for same-day fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH)
and same-day chromogenic in situ hybridization (CISH) of common DNA
targets such as Her2/neu.
