Regis Corporation would like to thank their stylists, customers and business partners, who together helped raise over $1 million for the Regis Foundation for Breast Cancer Research during their annual October Clip for the Cure event. Regis Corporation (NYSE: RGS), the global leader in beauty salons, hair restoration centers and cosmetology education, has been supporting the cause since 1990.
During the company's month-long Clip for the Cure, participating salons offered discounted haircuts and sold exclusive pink products to benefit the cause. Also as part of the campaign, 10% of net proceeds from the sale of private label products was donated to the Regis Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.
Regis Corporation chose breast cancer research as their primary charitable focus because the majority of their employees are women, many of whom have personal connections to the disease and are eager to support the event.
Penny Woods, area supervisor for HairMasters in Alabama and a two-year breast cancer survivor, has participated in Clip for the Cure for nearly 20 years. "My managers, staff and stylists are even more passionate about the event because of my experience."
Barbara Kniceley, a salon manager at the Regis Salon at Middletown Mall in Fairmount, WV, lost her mother to breast cancer. In addition, her mother-in-law is a 25-year survivor and her sister is a five-year survivor.
"There's a history of breast cancer in my family. I do this for my teenage daughter, so that a cure may be found in her lifetime," said Kniceley. "We have a tight-knit community that really pulls together to support our efforts in raising awareness about breast cancer."
Regis Corporation brands that participated in the event include Regis Salons, SmartStyle, Supercuts, MasterCuts, Magicuts, Cost Cutters, Cool Cuts 4 Kids, First Choice Haircutters, BoRics, Fiesta Salons, TGF Hair Salons, Best Cuts, Saturday's, Holiday Hair, Head Start, Famous Hair, Style America and HairMasters salons.
To date, the company's dedicated stylists and clients have raised $8 million to support groundbreaking breast cancer research at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic, along with other nationally recognized centers that are leading the way in breast cancer research.
