Humana's dental benefits coverage is now available in New York

Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) announced today that its dental benefits business, HumanaDental, is now offering a variety of plans to people in New York, including New York City, Albany and Rochester. Members also have access to HumanaDental.com, where they can search for and find dentists in their area, verify plan benefits, and check the status of claims.

"We're excited to be expanding our U.S. network by making dental benefits coverage available in New York," said Kevin Conway, specialty market president in Humana's Northeast market. "Our dental coverage is not just about cost-savings, it's also about providing health plan options, building new relationships and delivering customer service to improve well-being."

Nine out of 10 current HumanaDental members recommend their coverage, according to a recent survey, and if members aren't satisfied with their in-network dentist locations, Humana will work with them to add new dentists to fit their needs.

"By maintaining open communication with our members and dentists, we're able to improve member satisfaction and reduce dentist turnover in the network," Conway said.

HumanaDental's network turnover rate, 1.2 percent, is well below the 9.8 percent industry standard, and its members and their families average a 27 percent savings by choosing in-network dentists.

New York members have access to three Humana plans. HumanaDental's Traditional Preferred, PPO and Preventative Plus plans offer a variety of coverage and cost options. The Traditional Preferred and Preventative Plus plans provide members coverage for any dentist they choose, while the PPO plan covers members' visits to in-network dentists. All three plans offer the option to cover 100 percent of costs for preventative services like oral exams, and 50 to 100 percent of costs for basic services like fillings.
