A national recall has been issued for a brand of chocolate egg truffles.
The recall is for five batches of Heritage-brand Belgian Milk Chocolate Egg with chocolate truffles in a 270-gram package, sold exclusively through Coles supermarkets. The product contains almond, hazelnut and gluten, but these ingredients are not listed on the package due to a labelling error.
The recall concerns batch numbers M011, M012, M013, M014 and M016.
Victoria's acting chief health officer Dr Michael Ackland said consumers with an almond, hazelnut or gluten allergy or intolerance should not eat the product and return it to its place of purchase for a full cash refund. No other Heritage products are affected by the recall.
Dr Ackland said the company had initiated the recall and acted as quickly as possible to inform the department and other national authorities. Dr Ackland said there has been no known illness associated with the product.
Meanwhile, Woolworths are also recalling two Macro Wholefoods Market dark chocolate-lactose free products sold at Woolworths, Safeway, Food for Less and Flemings supermarkets across Australia. The Macro Dark Chocolate - Lactose Free Bunny 130g and Macro Dark Chocolate - Lactose Free Easter Egg and Twist Sweets 120g are being recalled nationally due to the presence of an undeclared allergen - milk - as a result of a labelling error.
