Transwestern today announces it has been named one of five finalists in the 2015 NJBIZ Healthcare Heroes awards program. Nominated in the "Workplace Wellness Hero" category, Transwestern is being recognized for its company-wide wellness program and efforts to promote a healthy work environment.
"We pride ourselves on establishing a workplace that promotes a healthy lifestyle, so it is gratifying to be considered for this award," said Transwestern's James Postell, partner and city leader. "We recognize the value of our team members' well-being and have a strong commitment to provide the resources and time they need to make it a priority in their daily lives."
Transwestern is a strong advocate of local wellness initiatives through its national "TransForm" program, which includes distributing information on fitness, nutrition and stress reduction, as well as wellness success stories from team members throughout the company − all of which is also featured on a dedicated section of the firm's intranet. In addition, select team members across the country, called Wellness Ambassadors, volunteer their time and talents to create a host of local educational and health initiatives as part of TransForm.
To encourage healthy lifestyles, Transwestern's New Jersey Wellness Ambassador, Erin Colquhoun, created a robust program in 2015 that included lunch and learn events on nutrition and stress management, on-site nutritional counseling, a "Couch to 5K" training program, on-site yoga and Pilates classes, a "Winter-Well-A-Thon" office challenge and an exercise class that develops instant recall memory, which is useful in both professional and personal settings.
Administered by an independent panel of judges, the NJBIZ Healthcare Heroes awards program honors individuals and organizations that are making a significant impact on the quality of healthcare in New Jersey. NJBIZ will announce the award winners during a ceremony on June 23.
In addition to this latest recognition, Transwestern recently landed a top spot on the NJBIZ annual "Best Places to Work" list for the second consecutive year and received an Impact Award from the United Way of Northern New Jersey for its transformation of 300 Kimball Drive into a first-class, multi-tenant office facility.
Transwestern is also a supporter of volunteer opportunities and participates in charitable events such as those sponsored by Susan G. Komen, The American Heart Association, Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the ALS Foundation. In 2014, the Building Owners and Managers Association recognized Transwestern with the Heart Award for the firm's dedication to its community through volunteer work and charitable initiatives.
